You can have ability, opportunity and enthusiasm and still make little progress if your attention is scattered.

Focus is not about doing more. It is about knowing what deserves your attention now.

Paul understood this when he said, “this one thing I do.” He had experiences behind him and possibilities ahead of him, but he refused to allow everything to compete equally for his attention.

The same principle applies to your life.

If everything is important, nothing receives your best.

You cannot pursue every opportunity, answer every demand and chase every distraction while expecting your energy to produce maximum fruit. Fruitfulness requires focus.

Ask yourself today: What is the one thing God wants me to give my best attention to in this season?

Then give it your best.

🌅 WHEN WAITING IS WORK — FIRESTREAMS DAILY DEVOTIONAL (DAY 6)

What if the season you call “waiting” is actually the season God is using to prepare you for what is next?

📖 TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
— Isaiah 40:30–31 (KJV)

Waiting can be frustrating when you have prayed, prepared and expected something to happen, yet nothing seems to move. But waiting on God is not the same as wasting time.

Sometimes, the greatest progress is happening beneath the surface.

A seed beneath the soil may appear inactive, but something is happening. In the same way, God may be using your waiting season to develop your wisdom, character, faith and capacity for what is ahead.

So don’t waste your waiting.

Keep preparing. Keep praying. Keep learning. Keep doing what God has already placed in your hands.

There is a difference between delay and preparation. Sometimes God is not saying “No.” He may simply be saying, “Not yet.” And “not yet” can become preparation for “now”.

Your results may be visible to others, but your roots are what determine how long they will last.

A fruitful life needs strong roots.

It is easy to admire visible results, but lasting fruit is usually produced through things people do not see: prayer, obedience, character, patience, discipline and time in God’s Word.

You may be asking God for greater fruitfulness, but He may also be strengthening your roots.

Do not despise the season when growth seems slow.

A tree does not become strong because its branches look impressive. Its strength comes from what is happening beneath the surface.

God is not only interested in what grows around you; He is interested in what is growing within you.

If your character cannot sustain the blessing, the blessing can become a burden. If your faith is shallow, pressure can easily shake you.

So let God deepen you.

Let His Word establish you. Let prayer strengthen you. Let obedience develop your character.

When the roots are strong, the fruit can last.

Your season of fruitfulness is not only about producing more. It is about becoming strong enough to carry what God is bringing into your life.

🌅 WHEN GROWTH REQUIRES CHANGE — FIRESTREAMS DAILY DEVOTIONAL (DAY 4)

Sometimes the next level of fruitfulness will not come from doing more. It will come from having the courage to change what is no longer helping you grow.

📖 TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”
— Isaiah 43:18–19 (KJV)

There are seasons when God wants to introduce a new direction, a new discipline, a new relationship, a new idea or a new way of approaching an old responsibility.

The challenge is that change can feel uncomfortable.

Familiarity feels safe. But familiar does not always mean fruitful.

Sometimes the method that worked before is no longer the best method for where God is taking you. Sometimes an old habit that once seemed harmless has become a limitation. Sometimes something has served its purpose and it is time to release it.

This does not mean abandoning everything old.

Wisdom knows what to preserve, what to improve and what to release.

So today, ask God for discernment. Don’t change simply because you are impatient. But don’t remain unchanged simply because you are comfortable.

Change what needs changing. Keep what still works. Follow where God leads.

The goal is not change for the sake of change.

The goal is greater fruitfulness.

“For who hath despised the day of small things?” — Zechariah 4:10 (KJV)

Some things God is doing in your life may look small right now—but small is not the same as insignificant.

A seed looks small before it becomes a tree. A single step may appear ordinary, yet it can begin a journey that changes everything. The danger is not always having a small beginning; sometimes the danger is despising it.

Do not despise the small prayer.
Do not despise the small opportunity.
Do not despise the little progress.
Do not despise the quiet season of preparation.

God can take what appears insignificant and breathe His purpose upon it.

What looks small in your hands can become significant when it is surrendered to God.

The question is not only, “How much do I have?” but “What am I doing with what God has placed in my hands?”

That little beginning may be carrying the seed of something much greater.
