March is my season of : Manifestation, Overthrow, Establishment and Productivity
It is a turning point and game – changing month.
Introduction: Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, today we gather to unravel the mysteries concealed within the sacred pages of the Bible, focusing our attention on the profound significance of the third month. As we embark on this exploration of Scripture, may our hearts be attuned to the revelations that God has for us.
I. Biblical Events in the Third Month: The third month holds distinctive importance in the Bible, as evidenced by several key events that transpired during this time.
A. The Giving of the Law at Mount Sinai (Exodus 19:1, 16-20): “In the third month after the Israelites left Egypt—on the very day—they came to the Desert of Sinai… On the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning, with a thick cloud over the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast.” – Exodus 19:1, 16-20 (NIV)
In the third month, God manifested His presence at Mount Sinai, and it was during this time that the Ten Commandments were given to Moses. This event marked a covenantal relationship between God and His people.
B. The Outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4): “When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.” – Acts 2:1-4 (NIV)
The third month witnessed the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, a transformative moment for the early disciples. The Spirit’s arrival empowered them for the ministry that lay ahead.
II. Personal Reflection: As we reflect on these significant biblical events, let us consider the relevance of the third month in our spiritual journey. Are we prepared to receive God’s commandments and follow His guidance? Are we open to the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives?
III. Application in Our Lives: A. Receiving God’s Guidance: Following the example of Moses, let us use the third month as a time to seek God’s guidance. Just as He provided the commandments on Mount Sinai, we too can approach Him for wisdom and direction in our lives.
B. Embracing the Holy Spirit’s Empowerment: Similarly, let the third month be a season to open our hearts to the Holy Spirit’s empowering presence. Like the disciples at Pentecost, may we be filled afresh with the Spirit, equipping us for the tasks God has set before us.
The THIRD MONTH is therefore a:
1. Third day of creation season.
On the third day of creation, the Creator commanded the water under heaven to be gathered together in one place. He then called the dry ground to appear (manifest and bring forth vegetation.
The third month is the month of the Call from heaven.
It is a month of overthrow, manifestation, establishment, and productivity.
2. Book of Leviticus season.
Leviticus is the third book of the Bible and is applicable to the third month. The book of Leviticus is about peace with God through offerings, sacrifices, and feasts in holiness and sanctification.
This book draws a clear line between the clean and unclean; the pure and the profane. The book is about consecrated people, places, things, and times.
The third chapters of the Bible are also applicable to the third month.
The third chapters of the Bible tell stories of change, manifestation, overthrow, and establishment. They also tell stories of the call of God and unshakable commitment to God.
The third month is a turning point, game-changing, season.
3. First Samuel 16 – First Chronicles 25 season.
Going through the third month of the year is like going from the middle of the ninth book of the Bible (1 Samuel 16) to about the end of the 13th book of the Bible (1 Chronicles 25). Why is it so? Going through the third month is the same as going from the fourth day of the 9th week to the sixth day of the 13th week. The 9th week is a First Samuel week. The 10th week is a Second Samuel week. The 11th week is a First Kings week. The 12th week is a Book of Second Kings week. The 13th week is First Chronicles week.
So, the third month is a month of distinction and triumphs. David is anointed king and faced challenges in First Samuel. He is made king in Second Samuel and fought battles. Solomon emerges in First Kings, the kingdom divides, idolatry is institutionalised and Elijah begins a move of recovery.
In Second Kings, Elisha takes over from Elijah and demonstrates the goodness and power of God by his prophetic ministry, the house of Ahab is destroyed but the kingdoms of Israel did not recover from idolatry until captivity. Focus returns to David in First Chronicles.
BIBLE PASSAGES WHERE ‘THIRD MONTH’ IS MENTIONED
1. THE THIRD MONTH IS THE MONTH OF ARRIVAL
Exodus 19:1-2: In the third month after the children of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on the same day, they came to the Wilderness of Sinai. [2] For they had departed from Rephidim, had come to the Wilderness of Sinai, and camped in the wilderness. So Israel camped there before the mountain.
2. THE THIRD MONTH IS THE MONTH OF ATTRACTION AND THE GATHERING TOGETHER OF THE PEOPLE
2 Chronicles 15:9-10: Then he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and those who dwelt with them from Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon, for they came over to him in great numbers from Israel when they saw that the LORD his God was with him. [10] So they gathered together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.
3. THE THIRD MONTH IS THE MONTH OF GATHERING THE OFFERINGS
2 Chronicles 31:6-8: And the children of Israel and Judah, who dwelt in the cities of Judah, brought the tithe of oxen and sheep; also the tithe of holy things which were consecrated to the LORD their God they laid in heaps. [7] In the third month they began laying them in heaps, and they finished in the seventh month. [8] And when Hezekiah and the leaders came and saw the heaps, they blessed the LORD and His people Israel.
2 Chronicles 31:9-11: Then Hezekiah questioned the priests and the Levites concerning the heaps. [10] And Azariah the chief priest, from the house of Zadok, answered him and said, “Since the people began to bring the offerings into the house of the LORD, we have had enough to eat and have plenty left, for the LORD has blessed His people; and what is left is this great abundance.” [11] Now Hezekiah commanded them to prepare rooms in the house of the LORD, and they prepared them.
4. THE THIRD MONTH IS FOR REVERSING THE EVIL DECREE
Esther 8:8-12: You yourselves write a decree concerning the Jews, as you please, in the king’s name, and seal it with the king’s signet ring; for whatever is written in the king’s name and sealed with the king’s signet ring no one can revoke.” [9] So the king’s scribes were called at that time, in the third month, which is the month of Sivan, on the twenty-third day; and it was written, according to all that Mordecai commanded, to the Jews, the satraps, the governors, and the princes of the provinces from India to Ethiopia, one hundred and twenty-seven provinces in all, to every province in its own script, to every people in their own language, and to the Jews in their own script and language. [10] And he wrote in the name of King Ahasuerus, sealed it with the king’s signet ring, and sent letters by couriers on horseback, riding on royal horses bred from swift steeds. [11] By these letters the king permitted the Jews who were in every city to gather together and protect their lives-to destroy, kill, and annihilate all the forces of any people or province that would assault them, both little children and women, and to plunder their possessions, [12] on one day in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar.
5. THE THIRD MONTH IS FOR DETHRONING THE EVIL AND PROUD POWERS
Ezekiel 31:1-2, 18: Now it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the third month, on the first day of the month, that the word of the LORD came to me, saying, [2] “Son of man, say to Pharaoh king of Egypt and to his multitude: ‘Whom are you like in your greatness? [18] ‘To which of the trees in Eden will you then be likened in glory and greatness? Yet you shall be brought down with the trees of Eden to the depths of the earth; you shall lie in the midst of the uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude,’ says the Lord GOD.”
